Fruits of my Labor Via Kitsy Lane

BY Unknown IN , , , , , , , , , , No comments

Fruits of my Labor Via Kitsy Lane

Even though, I am a total retail addict (not that you didn't know that from the title of my blog) the split in my personality is spending money.  Seriously, it is a strange situation to deal with.  The emotional side of me screams, "gimme, gimme, GIMME! American Express be damned!", while the more logical side of me calculates all the cost benefits and upcoming bills I will have to pay.

Since the more rational side of me prevails, I have made a pact with myself to only spend on baubles and new fits when I make extra money.  Meaning, I recently had a few sales from my Kitsy Lane boutique (thank you lovelies! Send me pics of you in your new baubles!), I paid all my bills, AND got an awesome offer for being a Kitsy Lane Boutique owner, now it's time to buy myself a jewelry piece and a chai latte!  Hooray for me!

So this is what I bought, the Shelley Necklace!

Isn't she lovely?!  She's cute and reminds me of the beach...where I would rather be right about now.

As Always, Happy Shopping (and Selling!)

**Links in this post contain links to my boutique, where I will earn compensation when you purchase your new jewelry pieces**

Cate & Chloe Review Part Deaux

BY Unknown IN , , , , , , , , , , , , , No comments

Cate & Chloe Review Part Deaux

Happy Monday Shoppers!  If you caught my first Cate & Chloe review (you can read it here), you already know I am totally gaga for Cate & Chloe's jewelry pieces.  Just incase you missed my original Cate & Chloe review (and are too lazy to click on the link) here is more about them from their website:

"The visionaries of Cate & Chloe began the company with one simple clear concept in mind: to create stylish yet affordable jewelry women could wear every day. In the fast paced world we all live in it is often times hard to find time or money to have that perfect jewelry piece or accessory for that special occasion or just simply to wear confidently around town. Most importantly the visionaries wanted to ensure that every piece is hand selected to ensure it meets the standards of the C&C vision for stylish design.

Inspired by their favorite designers, the creators of Cate & Chloe wanted simple, versatile, elegant pieces that would complete every woman’s personal collection. After experiencing life in the working world, they found there was little time to let their inner fashion guru shine! They wanted to create an easy place for young professionals to find classic, timeless accessories that would add a little glamour to an everyday look. Since the inception of Cate & Chloe, the visionaries have continued to strive for the highest level of quality, innovation, and timeless designs to ensure its avid followers are able to flaunt C&C pieces from the Red Carpet to the office!"

I promise you, this isn't just a fluff statement.  I went totally gaga over Cate & Chloe's Layla Beauty Pendent Necklace (and so did my friends, family, husband, frienemies and that annoying, yet sweet lady at the supermarket).  With the second piece I was shipped as part of the VIP membership *details to come* I did not know how they could compete with Layla Beauty Pendent NecklaceWhen I received the second Cate & Chloe package, of course, I tore through the adorable packaging with reckless abandon like a child on Christmas morning.  However, in the back of mind I was thinking, nothing could ever top my absolute adoration of the Layla Beauty Pendent Necklace. Nothing!  Then I opened the jewelry box.

These little beauties are what awaited me.  I stared at the sparkling earrings and thought to myself...I am going to rock these to the blogger event at Plush!  All those insanely beautiful and fashionable bloggers are going to envy my bright, brilliant, glowing, shining, shimmering Olivia Dignity Stud Earrings! (And Layla Beauty Pendent Necklace) Take that perfect bloggers with million of followers!  I will have my moment!

You're not ready for my moment to shine :)

All jokes aside, besides the exquisite beauty of the pieces, the other wonderful thing (especially for your wallets and budgets) is that the Layla Beauty Pendent Necklace is $115 and the gorgeous Olivia Dignity Studs are $125, BUT with the Cate & Chloe VIP Membership, you would get both (and other envy invoking pieces every month) for only $39.99!!!!  I don't know if you read that correctly.  With the Cate & Chloe VIP Membership you will receive two high quality, stylish, gorgeous pieces with a retail value of about $200 every month for $39.99.

Here is how the membership works:

When Men Were Men

When Men Were Men

By now we have all seen this picture:

(Images: Getty) Designed in partnership with Versace’s in-house design team, here is the latest mens fashion designs for J.W out of New York.
Before you send me emails or make crazy comments, the liberal hippie in me quite honestly feels that is if a man wants to wear a dress, so be it.  It is his business. However...what gets my pulse going, makes me sweat and start to blush is a manly man...no tight jeans, dresses, or all the things I like to wear myself.  Sorry, if a man wants to wear my clothes...I feel like we should only be friends, go shopping, get mani's and pedi's, go voguing in the club together and talk about how hot the latest Hollywood crush is.  #Justsaying.

I was hoping with the popularity of the tv show Mad Men we would see this return to suits and old school male aesthetic in the world of mens fashion.  As much as I don't want my man wearing dresses, I am really sick of the slouchy LA street style...ALL. THE. TIME.  I don't mind that style every once in a while..but once you hit your thirties and that's your everyday attire...maybe you should reevaluate some things in your life.  #Justsaying again.

In response to my meditations, prayers, and desperate pleading this is my ode to a time gone by When Men Were Men.  The source of inspiration is none other than the Rat Pack.  Frank, Dino, Sammy, Peter and Joey.  They were the embodiment of manly cool. From the website Modern Drunkard (yes, Modern Drunkard Magazine.  Don't judge me)

"Some reckon it was because the heart of the Pack, the holy trinity of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., were peaking in their respective careers precisely when they forged their fateful union. Others claim their rise hinged upon the testosterone-fueled reaction of the fading Macho American Male against the encroaching, decidedly un-macho hippie revolution. Yet others believe it was the diabolical work of vast media conspiracy—the newspapers fed on scandal then, as now, and the Pack gave them all they could stand and more.

Then there are those, myself included, who believe the well is much deeper than that. That the Rat Pack wasn’t just a gang of hard-drinking, easy-loving, high-rolling celebrities who happened along at the right time, but also something much bigger and much more difficult to define—an idea, an ethos, a subconscious creed whose roots extend all the way back to ancient Greece. The Rat Pack was the primal embodiment of the notion that we are not put on this earth to toil until death, but rather that we are here to swing.

Admittedly, their timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The conformist 50’s were colliding headlong into the gooey flower-power movement, and red-blooded Americans were at a loss as to how they were supposed to behave. They were desperate for leadership and suddenly a group of very confident cats climbed up on stage in a small desert town in Nevada to deliver a soused sermon of sheer unadulterated fun. And the world sat up and took notice."

From a sheer fashion perspective the crisp button ups, and tailored suits still look fresh and crisp 50 years later.  The more casual cardigans and pleated chinos still fit in nicely to the Hamptons/Martha's Vineyard upper crust set.  Furthermore, there is no guessing that these are men. I doubt there is any lycra or spandex in any of their pants. Manly men...in well tailored suits.  You have to love it.

Pure manly man fashion.  Can you smell the testosterone?  Smells great doesn't it?

Guest Post: 5 Unique Fashion Trends and Make up Tips to Look Fresh

5 Unique Fashion Trends and Make up Tips to Look Fresh

Image taken from hotelbelleclaire.com

“Less is more” is the in thing this 2014. Simplicity is key whether it be in makeup or hair this year. Looking fresh and young will definitely amp your personality.

Celebrity stylists prefer simpler looks this year. “Simple is edgier and sexier,” so they say. Their advice is to focus on accentuating only your eyes and lips.
Here are 5 unique fashion trends in hair and makeup to keep your cool and look fresh this season.

1.      Shimmer and glitter are so last season. Tri-colored correction creams are better than last year’s BB cream craze. Heavy foundation should be avoided. Applying moisturizer before foundation or creams is the key in achieving a fresher look. You must remember that in attaining that fresh look is through flawless complexion.

2.      For your puckers, choose colors that match your skin tone. Later this year, radiant orchid and plum are going to be a hit. Dark-colored girls should consider orange and bright coral for their lips. While white-skinned girls can try matte and red.

3.      In fashion, the bright, electric shades of the 80’s funk are your best bet this year. But pastels such as light pink and blue will still make you look elegant and classy.

4.      The short and textured hairstyles of the 70s will be your “throwback look”. “We're gonna see a lot of shorter cuts from like, Pamela Anderson, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hudson,” said Louis Phillip Kee, owner of the salon of the same name. Meanwhile, longhair is still your staple winning look.

5.      Start sporting low ponytails for that simple yet fresh look. Braids will make a comeback especially those styles that wraps around the head and looks like a crown.

You can always experiment on your looks and styles depending on the occasion, season, and mood you are in.  Make sure that you won’t regret it if you decide on changing something for good, more especially when it comes to changing your hairstyle. If you badly need a new one but just want it to be temporary, you can make use of wigs and hair extensions so that you can just remove it whenever you want.
