California Dreamin' in a Badgley Mischka One Piece
Today, I have a story for you. I was born in Phoenix, AZ. The Valley of the Sun. When I was about 9 or 10, my family relocated to New York. Besides being a total culture shock, there were a few other things about New York that took some getting used to. The main thing being, SNOW. Up until that point, the only "snow" I had encountered was almost frozen morning dew my parents (both New Yorkers, mind you) tried to convince my impressionable native Phoenician mind was indeed snow. For the first few months in New York, it did get bitterly cold yet I adapted to my new northern life fairly well. Then the inevitable happened. A major snowstorm swept in and dropped what seemed like 4 feet but was probably closer to a foot of the white stuff everywhere. I stared out the window at the huge falling snowflakes in bewilderment. After about an hour of staring, my grandmother suggested I go outside and play in the snow. I looked at her and replied, "Why don't you go play in the snow?" I wish I could say we just laughed and laughed at my question, but that would ignore the fact I did get a swipe to my derriere for having such a smart mouth. However, it was an honest sentiment. Why in the world would I want to go outside in freezing weather and play with snow?!My feelings haven't changed much, I still hate snow. While I grew up in New York and identify heavily as a New Yorker, the one thing that always made me hold on to my Phoenix roots was the snow. I never got used to it, didn't want snow during the holidays, and as much as I love boots of all kinds, I still hate snow. Mind you, I can drive a little Nissan Versa as well as I can drive Cadillac Escalade in the iciest of conditions...which is a skill...however, I still absolutely abhor snow. Sorry, there is just no getting around it or sugarcoating it!
When I moved to the DMV area (DC/Maryland/Virginia to the uninformed) I thought I had relocated to a tropical paradise except it wasn't tropical nor was it a paradise. However, the snow was minimal. Very minimal! And that was all I needed. The first winter in the DMV was like springtime in New York. I literally thought I had struck the lotto. It did get into the 30's and 40's but there was barely any precipitation. As more winters passed, the DMV area did experience what they call "snowstorms", but this jaded New Yorker called them light dustings. Light tickles, if you will. But this year? This year has rehashed some deep seeded snow hatred I have been harboring for decades. Seemingly every other week the Mid Atlantic is getting dumped on, and not light ticklings like in the past. No, these are real snowstorms leaving a foot or more in its wake. Since my son has returned to school from Christmas break, his school has used all of their built in snow days. At this rate, my son may not get out of school until 2 weeks before he has to return to school from summer vacation. It literally has been that bad.
Furthermore, as I sit here typing, meteorologists are warning of yet another massive snowstorm that is threatening to drop another foot of snow on the foot we already have...and I...well, I am dreaming. California dreamin' in a one piece Badgley Mischka swimsuit. (Insert The Mamas & The Papas song here). Actually, it doesn't have to be Cali'... it can be anywhere that is in the 70's +, with plenty of sun...yeah, that's all I need...BUT it has to be the Badgley Mischka one piece! It just has to!
What began as simple online retail therapy turned into a full fledged California Dreamin' moment courtesy of Swimwear for Me (www.swimwearforme.com). When you visit the site, you'll notice the clean lines with touches of blue and orange. The aesthetic immediately puts you in the frame of mind of Hot Fun in the Summertime (Sly and the Family Stone! Sorry, I am a bit nostalgic for good music). Then add images of beautifully tanned women, aqua marine water, beautiful bathing suits and SUNSHINE(!) and the site really entices you to pull out the old AMEX and book a trip somewhere tropical (and buy a weeks worth of swimwear).
Before, I show the Badgley Mischka pieces which totally turned me gaga, Swimwear for Me has a huge selection of suits and swimwear for every body type and taste that we cannot ignore!
Here is the Bleu by Rod Beattie Collection (click on a suit you like to be taken directly to the site!):

While I adore some of the suits in the other lines (and am planning on purchasing)...the suits and tunics I see in my California daydreams are these, made by one of my favorite designer labels. Get ready to swoon!

*Sigh* even though I have a bullseye on my back for an impending snowstorm...I will sit here with my hot chocolate, fireplace going, and children who have had cabin fever for a good month now and daydream about these swimsuits. (Then I will whip out the trusty AMEX and purchase them! It has a double purpose, the suits will inspire me to bug the hell out of the hubby to take me on vacation AND motivate me to get on the treadmill! *winning*)
To get your new swimsuits and check out all of the product lines that Swimwear for Me has to offer, visit them at www.swimwearforme.com! (Go. Right now!)

GORGEOUS pieces! Loving the Bleu peep show pieces as well as the Badgley Mischka ones (of course) too!
ReplyDeleteI live on Guam, so it's hot and tropical all day every day - even in winter - and I grew up in Hawaii and therefore have NEVER been in snow. The closest I've gotten to snow is a snow cone. Seriously. I'd love to at least experience it once in my life! Wanna trade places for a week? Lol.
♥ Duckie.
