Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones
In honor of Nas' new album, here is his new song. **Warning** It is explicit, so if you're relatively prude or have sensitive ears, don't play it!I have had an unnatural crush on Nas since Illmatic. I have personally purchased all of his CD's even when my main mode of music purchase turned to downloadable media. However, for him, I will drive to the record store (as non existent as they are) and buy his album. My crush is so deep, I miss the chipped tooth. I do.
However, I will not bore you with details of my 18 year old crush (damn it's been that long?!). I will, however, give a nod to his style. Most people look to Jay Z as "the" urban fashion icon, however, Nas has had his moments of brilliance (as well as some faux paus-like that white fur, and "evil Knievel jumper" in the "Hate Me Now" video. I just chalked it up to him hanging with Puffy-excuse me Diddy-a little too much) For the urban fashionista, Nas' laid back style ranges from suits, to hoodies, to gold chains, to salmon colored polo's.
From the infamous MTV interview where Jay-Z and Mr. Jones squashed their beef. These pictures don't do it justice, but that is one of the sickest Nike throwback jackets I have seen since before they were "throwbacks". (For you non urban dwellers-throwback usually means vintage)
Here Nas is in rose tinted Cartier frames, looking oh so handsome, might I add!
Here, Nas is making Jeezy look dusty at some basketball game.
Nas with editor Jim Nelson of GQ with a stylish blazer, a nice pair of denim and kicks!
Nas always rocks the hottest shades.
Mr. Jones style is ever evolving from street to preppy to corporate and sometimes downright weird. However, he is still one of the best to ever do it! Whether it's dressing or touching the mic. His music has been with me for 18 years on heavy rotation, and here's to 18 more!
