Can Rodney Yee Get Any Sexier?  And Other AM/PM Yoga Meditations

**Darn tootin' I have affiliate links in this post and I will receive a small compensation if items are purchased.  With that said, I stand by my opinions and Rodney Yee is still sexy.**

I sincerely hope that all of you are having a wonderful start to Fall, and haven't had to deal with some of the chaos I have been encountering, seemingly all summer!  Seriously.  It honestly feels like Mercury has been in retrograde (a little astrology reference for you) all summer and it doesn't seem want to ease up.  Sheesh!

From the minor to the major, anything that could go wrong-did!  However, I am dealing.  I try to stay positive, roll with the punches, and just deal with things as they arise.  With the constant bombardment, however, I will admit it is tough!  It is difficult, to keep smiling, to keep your head up when you really want to scream at the top of your lungs, from the highest mountain...to anyone and everyone.  But before I reached a total meltdown, extended my middle finger and started screaming the corresponding expletive, I decided to add a little joy and relaxation in my life.  Just something to help stay focused, stretch my limbs, help stay centered, and work out the kinks in between my shoulder blades, where I hold all my stress.  Enter Gaiam.

Gaiam.com Natural & Organic - Solutions for a Healthy Lifestyle Yes, Gaiam.  Yoga mats, organic bedding, incense, meditation, yoga pants, yoga, natural healing and everything that is zen.  Wow, I feel like I need an herbal tea and some sweet smelling incense just thinking about it.  Now I will admit, I did extend my middle finger to the cable company and invested in Roku (best money ever spent!).  Gaiam has a channel on Roku and I have been hooked ever since.  However, I digress.

With all the chaotic nonsense I was dealing with one morning, I decided to flip to my Gaiam channel and do a yoga routine.  Hey, every little bit helps, right?  Enter Rodney Yee. Yesssssssss, Rodney Yee, the yogi.  I was already familiar with his work as one of my besties had a few of his yoga routines on VHS. (Yes!  VHS!  That is how long he has been at it.)  Being that I am a novice, (sure I have taken yoga classes before but never stuck with it), I decided to do his AM/PM Yoga for Beginners.

AM/PM Yoga for Beginners is...awesome.  Only 15 minutes long; you find Rodney, nicely tanned, in a speedo(!), on a sandy beach, with blue waves rushing to the shore, and he gently lulls you into a mindfulness meditation to begin your routine.  To be honest, this nicely tanned, exotic man with a lot of hair had me at the speedo.  However, the beginning meditation seriously relaxed me, so much so I was contemplating getting back into bed.  Rational heads prevailed and I went along with the rest of the routine.  One pose led into another and before I knew it I was totally stretched out and feeling good, despite being keenly aware of the chaos I would face that day.

Was my day less chaotic?  No, not really.  The only difference was I felt relaxed and prepared for whatever happened.  That night, I decided to do the PM Yoga.  PM Yoga was great too...but...it was with Patricia Walden instead of Rodney Yee, which I will admit was a bit disappointing.  Sorry Patricia, no disrespect to you, but I was hoping for a well tanned man with long black hair to lull me to sleep.  Just being honest.  PM Yoga gently calms and relaxes you, and guides you and your body to release the activity of the day and get ready for sleep.  See?  I am starting to write like I am centered! (Smile)

Once I master the AM/PM Yoga, then I will move on to the other Yogi's on Gaiam TV, like Faith Hunter, Kreg Weiss, Ryan Leier and tattoo'ed yogi hottie Pedro Franco.  Yessssss, Pedro, I am coming for you next.  Gaiam has yogic sleep yoga, yoga for a killer core, yoga for stress relief, yoga for back pain...basically any yoga you can think of, for all skill levels, Gaiam has it!

All in all, do I feel at one with the Divine and connected to all people?  Hell no! But I feel better. A LOT BETTER.  My body feels good, and even though the same stresses are there, I feel capable to handle stress as it comes.  Hey, you never know...I may become a real yogi!  If that happens, I will definitely be on Gaiam ordering all the bamboo yoga mats I can afford!

So, if you have been dealt some blows lately or merely want a new refreshing routine, try yoga with me!  Right now Gaiam TV is offering a 10 day free subscription, so you can see all they have to offer! Click here http://www.gaiamtv.com/ to sign up for the trial. You can watch it on any smart device, laptop or computer.  Or if you are a traditionalist, go to www.gaiam.com and check out the routines they have on DVD (I don't think they sell VHS anymore). Right now Gaiam is running a special for 2 DVD's for $17!Click here http://www.gaiam.com/videos

Hopefully this rut I have been in is finally over and I won't have to keep shouting expletives to the world.  Here's to giving Mercury in retrograde and other stresses the middle finger!  As Always, Namaste.

Bad Blogger!  Bad! Bad!

"It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you...with out a dope beat to step to" Rakim

Okay, I have been neglecting my Mangoes...and for that I apologize!  Life has become hectic, school is kicking my "arse" and my son is out of school...all at the same time!  Add all of that to my general procrastination...and it equals no blog posts....yes I am wrong!

However, we will catch up in subsequent posts...I promise!!

But no worries, I will leave with a dope beat (or blog post) to step to.  I found this on ulookhaute.com...Ladies it is interesting, see below

"Have you ever heard of face mapping? If not, it’s pretty much the key to unlocking the mysteries behind problematic skin. Thanks to the combined knowledge of dermatologists who have analyzed skin behaviors and ancient Chinese medicinal methods there is a smarter way to interpret and treat skin imperfections by way of “face mapping.” Face mapping is a type of skin analysis that explains why and how certain areas of your face are connected to other parts of your body. If you ask me, it's pretty amazing stuff...

Why do you break out in some areas and not others?

Think of your blemishes as X’s on a map that is your face. Different zones correspond to different problems. With this “map” as your guide, you can address the underlying causes of blemishes and correctly determine how to prevent them from recurring. (Don't you wish you know about this in middle school?)

So, what are your breakouts telling you?

Using the face mapping method to decode what’s going on with your body is both incredibly informative and very extensive if you ask me. Here is an overview of the basic areas and what breakouts or abnormalities in those areas mean:

Zone 1 & 3: Bladder & Digestive System — Improve your diet and drink more water.

Zone 2: Liver — Try cutting back on alcohol, heavy food or dairy. This area can also indicate a food allergy.

Zone 4 & 10: Kidneys — Make sure you’re keeping yourself hydrated with water and cut back on liquids that dehydrate you. This means nix the soda, coffee and/or alcohol.

Zone 5 & 9: Respiratory system — Those who smoke or have allergies tend to have acne here.

Zone 6 & 8: Kidneys — Dark circles are usually a result of dehydration. Drink up!

Zone 7: Heart — Check your blood pressure and make sure you’re not using makeup that irritates your skin.

Zone 12: Stomach — Consider a detox or adding more fiber to your diet to help with digestion.

Zone 11 & 13: Hormones — Stress and hormonal changes can sometimes be alleviated with more water and a few extra servings of dark, leafy greens but if breakouts in this area persistent, make an appointment with your doctor to look into a possible hormonal imbalance. Additionally, breakouts in this area also indicate when you are ovulating (and which side).

Zone 14: Illness — Can be a sign of your body fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Take a breather and drink plenty of fluids.

So the next time you breakout or notice dark under eye circles, look to your map (or shall we say face map).

Have you heard of face mapping before?

P.S. Please note that these are general guidelines. Just becuase you breakout on your nose doesn't mean you have a heart problem. As with all medical issues, it is always best to see your doctor or dermotologist for a proper prognosis. "

So what is your skin telling you?!
