Breast Enlargement, Should You Keep it in the Family?

Cosmetic surgery will always be a subject which divides opinion, provoking such questions as; is it right? Where do the motivators come from? Is it too available? What are the consequences?

The debate became even more extensive when the case of the father who routinely performed procedures on his two daughters hit the newspapers.

On the one hand, a parent/surgeon could be seen as a positive thing – no parent is going to perform a procedure that is going to be harmful to their child. However, when the sheer number of procedures is taken into account it could be considered that surgical intervention is too available to these young women.

Plastic surgery is more commonplace there than it is in most parts of the world, and Michael is a popular plastic surgeon. His daughter, Brittani had a boob job for her 18^th birthday, and a nose job for her 21^st. His other daughter, Charm began her cosmetic surgery journey when she was just ten years old after she had her protruding belly button reshaped – and that is the most disturbing fact of the matter. Adult women having boob and nose jobs done is one thing. Children being surgically altered is another thing entirely. In addition to the procedures they have had, both daughters regularly have Botox and skin peels at their father’s clinic and often pass on their friends’ details to consultants when they want procedures done.

Brittani and Charm’s mother was initially opposed to their undergoing procedures but continuously caved in after she realised how unhappy they were with an aspect of their appearance. This is where the debate becomes hugely difficult – while the idea of cosmetic surgery may be difficult for some, is it right that those who are unhappy with some aspect of their appearance should have to suffer? Anyone who has ever suffered from bad skin as a teenager can understand the desperation to be able to change themselves.
